Moore’s journey

Malik Moore, a sophomore playing for the Peninsula Colleges men’s basketball team, is a hard-working, dedicated team player.
Moore says his personal goals are minor compared to what the team’s goals are, and believes the team carries the potential needed to win the division and hopefully the championships.
Overcoming a recent injury and two surgeries in the past, Moore continues to face and defeat his hardships, playing since middle school he believes basketball will help him achieve his personal goals to open a physical therapy practice to call his own, centered around sports injuries.
“My proudest moments in basketball, I would say is my journey, I feel I’ve come really far. I’ve grinded to be where I am right now.”
During his time on the team, he has been recognized by his teammates and coach as a star player several times. Only starting as a walk-on in 2018 by personally contacting the coach, this year he has progressed, receiving a scholarship and holding the weight as team captain.
“What I want people to take from my journey is, don’t put any limits on yourself, you’ll never get anything you want if you don’t go out and try, give yourself a fighting chance,” Moore said.
