The first Peninsula College dorm remains on track to open its doors August 8, with the second building following shortly after.

The dorms will be broken into pods with four rooms per pod and two people per room. The pods will have a shared living space that will come pre-furnished with a couch, ottoman, dining table and chairs. Each room will come with two desks, two dressers and two twin extended beds. The kitchen will come with all necessary ap- pliances. All furniture is to be purchased from local furniture store, Angeles Furniture.

The dorms will have high-speed fiber internet provided by Wave Broadband. Each pod will have a router located in the ceiling and each room will have two ethernet ports per room.

“Nobody in Port Angeles will have better internet,” Joel Crosby, owner of Collegiate Housing International, said.

Josh Heckenlively, assistant coach for the Peninsula College men’s soccer team, will be the live-in manager for the first building, with the second building to be managed by a resident picked by and

reporting to Heckenlively.
Heckenlively mentioned that CHI is considering leasing the

rooms during the summer while students are away from school. Since the rooms would be still be under the student lease, CHI would pay the student a small amount to lease the rooms to part-time resi- dents. No decisions have been made on the summer leasing yet.

Heckenlively is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at PC. He played for the men’s soccer team in 2015 when they won the Northwest Athletic Conference championship, and in 2016 when he joined as a red shirt. When he is isn’t in class or coaching, Hecken- lively spends his time helping a disabled couple on Mount Angeles.

Heckenlively hopes to inspire a sense of community within the dorms and encourage residents to excel in both academics and athletics.

CHI is offering an incentive for students to apply for residencyat CHI Port Angeles. The first twenty students to pay the application fee and successfully get accepted will receive a $100 voucher.

Additionally, CHI is offering $200 for every student that references another student to apply and move in.
