Netflix has a number of new shows. With time as the limiting factor, I don’t watch TV much these days.
That being said, scrolling through the list of series, I had heard of “Shameless.” You would think the title is enough to
keep you looking. Shameless, what kind of title is that? What could be so interest- ing about a show called “Shameless?”
With dysfunction the norm in today’s families, I think the interesting factor is that this family’s dynamics could very well be most of ours.
The main family is no “Leave It to Beaver” family, and the real-life struggles are the unheard of truths that hide behind the walls of the normal-family homes.
So why spend any of your valuable time on this horrifically believable storyline?
The Gallagher’s family consists of six kids and two absent parents.
The mother ran off and reappears randomly and the drunken father surfaces between benders which largely disrupts and traumatizes the children.
They are growing up and engaging in unhealthy relationships that create more problems.
The caretaker oldest sister does her best to hold the family together.
The drama is centered on the survival of the six kids, something reminiscent for any kid who has fallen between the cracks; those of poverty, homelessness or domestic strife of any kind.
