This year’s Find Your Voice Festival will comprise of several monologues written by Peninsula College students and professors as well as community members.
Out of 42 entries, 13 monologues were selected to be performed.
“As a playwright it is amazing to see your words come to life in the production,” said Tia Stephens, an author chosen to perform.
“It takes a village to put on a production,” said Karen Hogan, Creative Director of this year’s festival.
Hogan led a discussion during the Feb. 23 Studium Generale about the production process of the festival, which featured a number of actors, playwrights, directors and stage crew.
Audience members had the opportunity to hear about the inspiration for many monologues as well as the process and the amount of work that went into production.
“The end product is going to demonstrate all the hard work that has gone into this play,” said Morrea Henderson, Production Coordinator.
“This is my first time acting and it has been a wonderful experience,” said Nam Nguyen.
Nguyen, an international student from Vietnam, is another one of the actors performing in the production.
He was required to have 5 hours of theater time for Dr. Lara Starcevich’s drama class and was suggested to audition for the production.
The 2017 Find Your Voice Festival will take place at 6:30 pm, March 17, 18, 24, and 25 at Studio Bob’s, 118 E. Front Street in Port Angeles.
