President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th U.S. President on Friday, Jan. 20. The capitol was infused with protests, some escalating in violence, with more then 95 arrests being made, according to “CNN.”
The inauguration was poorly attended in comparison to past years, with 275,000 in attendance. Former President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 acceptance ceremonies weighed in at over a million attendees a piece, and both President Clinton and President Bush beat those numbers as well according to “Newsweek.”
The performers included The Rockettes, who perform at every inauguration, the Talladega Marching Tornadoes, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Jackie Evancho. The night before, at the, “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration,” Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood and 3 Doors Down appeared.
President Donald Trump closed his inaugural speech with, “Together we will make America great again. Thank you. God bless you, and God bless America.” These words marked America’s transferral of power, and, for better or for worse, represent a new term in our nation’s political powers.
