What does a Raku firing session and a pulled pork cookout have in common? You guessed it! The Clay Club! On October 25th, the Clay Club hosted a cookout and a presentation of Raku. This form of pottery creation is a Japanese practice dating back to the early 1500s, is an art that involves heating a kiln to extreme temperatures close to 1800 degrees. If the clay pots survive the heat and don’t crack apart or explode, they morph and are glazed over with a glassy feel.
