It might seem absurd to imply that a team winning four championships in the last six years would need to rebuild.

But constant rebuilding is vital at the community college level, especially for Cale Rodriguez and a Peninsula men’s soccer team that looks to repeat its 2015 Northwest Athletic Conference championship.

Rodriguez has already signed 10 recruits to revamp his roster.

“This recruiting class so far is an excellent group of talent and experience,” Rodriguez said.

Among those are Brannon Dwyer, a goalkeeper from Larskspur, Calif., tasked with replacing keeper Nick Johnson who led the NWAC in saves last season.

“Brannon is a huge pickup for our program,” Rodriguez said. “We were very fortunate to land him as he was highly coveted by many schools.

“He has great size and is excellent with his feet. He will compete right away to be the number one goalkeeper.”

Also signing letters of intent are Joey Hollimon, a forward from Las Vegas, Nev.

Cesar Gervacio, a forward from Tracy, Calif.

Kevin Medina, a winger from Stockton, Calif.

Saul Araiza, a forward from Stockton, Calif.;

Jason Ramos, a centerback from Montabello, Calif.

Lyric DeLeon, a centerback from Kapolei, Hawaii;

Jack Coupe, and outside back from Silverdale, Wash.

“Jack is somewhat of a local product,” Rodriguez said. “He played for one of the better youth teams in the state of Washington. He has good size and athleticism and will improve tremendously during his time here.”

Miguel Valderrama, a center mid from Riverside, Calif.;

Marlon Nava, a left back from Costa Mesa, Calif.

“We are still looking to add several players to this group that will only make this class that much stronger,” Rodriguez said.

“I am hopeful that this group can step in right away and help the program continue a high level of success. More to come!”
