Critically acclaimed author and journalist Dahr Jamail, Peninsula College’s 2016 Writer in Residence, will be presenting a keynote presentation entitled, “Living on a Climate-Disrupted Planet” Thursday, April 28, at 12:30 p.m. in the Little Theater.
“I am honoured with the opportunity to, during my residency, speak with the students, staff, and community of Peninsula College,” Jamail said.
“My hope is that by discussing the media, journalism, and human-caused climate disruption at length, a broader, more incisive perspective on all of these topics might be taken away from the experience,” he said.
Jamail has published two books regarding his investigative journalism in Iraq and Afghanistan, highlighting what life was like under U.S. occupation in a Hot Zone.
Jamail has been published in The Guardian, The Huffington Post and The Independent, as well as appearing on BBC and NPR news stations.
This event is free and open to the public.
