The Senior Dance is an annual event held every other year at the Senior Center.
This year, the dance was held on in the Pirate Union Building on April 12.
This dance is unique from other dances at our college.
During this dance the seniors teach the students different ballroom dances, including, but not limited to, the pancake hokey pokey, the waltz and swing.
“This dance was well attended, and had great acoustics,” said Lorelli Anderson, a senior who attended the dance. She was having a great time dancing with different students.
The Cat’s Meow has played at this event for 19 years, but they’ve been playing with the Senior Center for 30 years. Vocalist Joey Lazzaro gave his thoughts on this year’s Senior Dance, “We are glad to be here, you guys are always very hospitable towards us.”
The band claims to have had a role in the marriage of former Peninsula College student Jill Camper and current student Daniel Camper
“They played for our wedding,” Jill said when asked about the bands part in their romance.
“It is our third time at this dance and it is just as fun!” she said.
The atmosphere of the dance was very exciting as seniors invited students out on the floor.
“Bringing two generation together is always a good time!” ASC member Jeremiah Hobbs exclaimed after the dance ended, at roughly 9:30 p.m.
