“I would totally rewind that whole night and watch it again,” said Peninsula College student Kylie Graham, who attended the a cappella group The Filharmonic’s concert on Mar. 2 in the Little Theater. Graham, who was among a sold out house that night was singled out in the crowd by the Filipino group’s singer, VJ Rosales, who sang Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” to her.

The group was originally formed on the Los Angeles TV show “The Sing Off” where the six members (five of whom performed at PC) met and started their own unique sound. It was explained that, because of their overwhelming Filipino background, their name is a play on words off of the musical term, philharmonic.

Singing a mix of covers of popular songs from now and recent history, the group was able to energize the mostly calm crowd over a few funny bits. Mid-show, a mock beat box battle occurred which had the audience laughing at the antics of an “out-boxed” band mate.

The Associate Student Council arranged the performance.  Kristy Diep, a Council event coordinator said,  “A part of ASC is bringing enjoyment to students, this was very successful.  We thought inviting them would be so great for students.”

Fellow Council member, Mia Steben said of the event, “We were really impressed by the talent on display and excited by how successful it was. It was thoroughly enjoyed and we hope everyone will come to more ASC events.
