You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why Seahawks fans. Stand-up comedian Corey Rodriguez is coming to town—from New England, patriotically, riding a seahawk. Seriously though, who can blame a guy from Massachusetts for being a Pats fan? “Don’t hate me yet, it’s not like I play for the team or anything. FYI I’m also a fan of steak, cheesecake, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and my Mom,” Rodrigues said in his defense. Maybe he deserves a chance?
After all, according to the Sequim Gazette, Rodrigues “has performed on a variety of cable television shows, was the 2011 winner of the Funniest Comic in New England contest, and a semifinalist in the Boston Comedy Festival.”
He had some advice for prospective comedians at PC such as those in the “Above-Ground, Under-Ground Comedy Club:” “Keep getting up on stage and trying things out and building up your confidence.” Regarding the process of coming up with new material he said he usually comes up with it pretty quickly and that it’s the development, “timing, rhythm, eliminating excess words, and relaying what I really want to say” that takes more time.
He said his average show length is about 45 minutes to an hour. He’s looking forward to his show at the college which will be free to students or $3 for non-students. He will be also be headlining the third-annual Pirate Casino Night at Seven Cedars Casino on Feb. 20. Tickets for that event are $90 each or $125 for a pair. Don’t you just love Peninsula College?
