Two NFL powerhouses clash next weekend on Sunday, Feb, 1 in Glendale, Arizona. For the up and coming Seattle Seahawks, led by superstar quarterback Russell Wilson, it’s an opportunity to be the first team to win back to back Super Bowl titles in over a decade. For the New England Patriots, it’s all about veteran quarterback Tom Brady, who’s trying to win his fourth Super Bowl ring, and carve himself into the Mount Rushmore of NFL quarterbacks.
The Patriots established their dynasty in the early 2000’s by winning three Super Bowls in four years, reaching their peak, in 2007, when they registered a near perfect season but were defeated by the New York Giants in the Super Bowl that year. Three years later they went back to the Super Bowl only to be defeated by the Giants once again.
The Seahawks lost in their first ever Super Bowl appearance, in 2006, but are coming off their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history, where they handedly defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8. This is their chance to solidify themselves as an emerging NFL Dynasty. What better way than to defeat the NFL’s last dynasty, the Patriots.
Whether the Seahawks and Russell Wilson win back to back championships and make an argument to be an emerging Dynasty, or the Patriots and Tom Brady win their fourth ring and forever carve their names in stone, it should be one for the ages. It’s not every Super Bowl that you get to watch a past dynasty face a potential dynasty in the making.
